Identity

Hey class - Hope you are all enjoying Persepolis as much as we are. For this post, I wanted to talk a little bit about identity. What makes a person's identity? The music they listen to? Their religion? Their political beliefs? What makes your identity?

In Persepolis, we see that Marji is forced to wear the veil. I feel that clothing is an important part of expression. It allows us to show the team we're rooting for (go sabres!), our favorite brand, or even a funny statement. How would you feel if you were no longer allowed to wear what you wanted? How do you think that clothing and identity are linked?

First Thoughts

Persepolis is not your average comic book.
Each frame is loaded with so much stuff!

(include a page number so we can look too).
Why did this image affect you?
How is "seeing" a novel different than just "reading" a novel?
